Why hunt Black Bears in BC?

Every hunter should hunt a species in its ideal habitat where it can meet its full potential. British Columbia is the best place for big mature bears. The abundant food sources, long growing season, and great genetics make for higher numbers and larger bears than anywhere else. As bears emerge from their dens in the spring it presents hunters with a chance to chase these massive animals in the BC wilderness. This makes for a great spot & stalk hunt while bears are feeding on whatever is accessible. Getting within range of an animal of this size will be sure to get your heart pumping.

What is British Columbia’s bear population?

BC has the highest Black Bear population in Canada. Out of 400,000 Black Bears, an estimated 160,000 live in BC alone. With such large numbers of bears in BC and experienced guides leading the way, high success rates are attained year after year.

How to hunt Black Bears in British Columbia?

The use of any kind of attractants for bears is illegal in BC, therefore all hunts are spot and stalk only. This makes things a bit more challenging but extremely rewarding to harvest. Seeing 10 even up to 15 bears feeding on the roadsides or in logging blocks is enough to get any hunter excited. Experiencing an exhilarating stock makes for a true black bear hunt of a lifetime. Since it is a spot and stalk hunt, we cruise the gravel roads or hike narrow trails and logging blocks in search of bears. Instead of quietly starring at a barrel and getting tormented by millions of mosquitoes, you get to see lots of our concession, enjoy BC’s beautiful scenery, and get to visit with your guide during your Black Bear hunt. Our high success rates at DB Outfitting can be attributed to our guide's knowledge and experience of the remote terrain.  It's important to find a quality bear hunting outfitter when you are planning your next hunting trip.
